Student Opportunity

We provide many student opportunities including paid and volunteer roles in Leeds, the UK and abroad. Such activities can enhance a student's academic learning and work-related skills.

Opportunities are offered both through the curriculum and through a broad range of co-curricular activities offered and supported by the University, Leeds University Union or the wider community.

The Leeds Curriculum

The Leeds Curriculum ensures all students leave the University equipped with the relevant knowledge, understanding, and attributes to face the major global challenges of today. It is the learning experience all students should encounter during their time at Leeds.

Higher and degree apprenticeships

We deliver a number of higher and degree apprenticeships, which combine working with studying at the University. These programmes are designed in partnership with employers and professional bodies to develop specific knowledge, skills and behaviours of an occupational standard.

Study Abroad

Each year over 900 Leeds students study abroad and we welcome incoming study abroad students from all over the world.

Internationalising the campus

We are proud that our campus is truly global and that it is home to staff and students from all over the world. We provide a welcoming environment through intercultural activities and services for international students.

Languages for All

Undergraduates can choose to improve their practical language skills through Languages for All to add to their experience at University.

The University of Leeds has a dedicated Volunteering team to help students to access volunteering opportunities during their time in Leeds.

Students into Schools

Through this scheme, students can undertake a placement in a school as part of their degree or as a voluntary activity.

Student societies

The Leeds University Union offers students the choice of over 250 clubs and societies to get involved with.

Student reps

There are a range of ways in which students can get involved as reps - in their school, hall of residence, on the student exec or in the community.

Undergraduate research and leadership scholarships

These scholarships provide funding from alumni to enable undergraduate students to develop their research and leadership capability by taking part in established academic research projects.
