Your work in supporting students/PGRs helps them make the most of their potential and their time studying with us. Supporting them is something we do together. You don't have to hold all of the challenges and resolve all the problems yourself.

Emotional and mental health support

This section will help guide you on how to support students and find the right referral pathways and support resources for a range of needs including students in distress

Academic processes and study support

There can be many challenges for students that mean they need some additional support, special considerations or maybe time away from their studies. Students may also be unhappy with something that has happened on their course, wish to appeal or make a complaint.

Supporting disabled students

Around 20% of our students are disabled. We have a legal obligation to ensure our disabled students have access to appropriate support and to work to remove the barriers to their learning.

Dealing with disclosures

In your role, you might receive disclosures of violence, abuse, bullying, harassment or discrimination by students. This section provides information to support safe disclosures, ensure student’s needs are met, whilst thinking about boundaries.

Practical problems faced by students

This section includes information and guidance on range of issues that students may have to deal with, including financial, housing, and dealing with the general queries on accessing information and dealing with some of the life admin of university life.

Supporting our diverse student community

This section includes information for supporting students who have children, students whose circumstances may change during their studies, including a name change, needs in relation to religious observance and many more circumstances where an extra helping hand or awareness may be needed.

There's a wide range of support available for international students as they prepare to come to Leeds, arrive, settle in and make the most of their experience at Leeds.

Critical incidents and crisis communications

This section contains links for information on serious incidents that are happening locally, within the UK or globally, such as terrorist attacks, natural disasters or incidents involving our student community. It also includes guidance and protocol when there is sadly a student death.
