Directors of Postgraduate Research Studies
The Directors of Postgraduate Research Studies have a key strategic and operational role within the academic unit.
Directors of Postgraduate Research Studies are managed by relevant Heads of School or academic unit and also report to the Heads of Graduate Schools. They will work as a team through the Faculty Graduate School, coordinating with the Head of Graduate School and other Directors to ensure strategy and policy for postgraduate research are implemented effectively.
They contribute to postgraduate strategy and policy, participating in annual planning exercises, and lead on recruitment and studentship matters for PGRs to support school strategic objectives for postgraduate research.
They are often the first point of contact for academic / pastoral issues raised by postgraduate researchers (PGRs) within their School / academic unit. Where Schools are larger the Director role may be split out into key areas such as admission, on-programme and / or support/well-being
