Mitigating circumstances form and guidance

Students facing adverse situations which affect their ability to complete assessments may wish to apply for formal consideration of mitigating circumstances.

Claims for mitigation need to be submitted on a standard Mitigating circumstances form (Word).  Each school has their own version of the form with local contact details and deadlines for submission. Students must contact their parent school for a mitigating circumstances form.

The accompanying Guidance notes (PDF) explain the situations in which it might be appropriate to submit a claim of mitigating circumstances, the evidence needed and the possible outcomes. Please note that Schools will have their own version of the guidance notes with local contact details and deadlines.

There is advice for students about Mitigating circumstances (on SES student website).
